Eliza Gabriel

Principal
Eliza Gabriel is thrilled to return to the role of Principal of Impact | Commencement Bay Elementary! Before joining CBE in 2025, Ms. Gabriel was the Principal at Impact| Puget Sound Elementary, and previously led teams in Washington and New York with excellent academic outcomes. She instituted a program to diversify classroom libraries and campaigned to improve the quality and diversity of books to which students are exposed. Ms. Gabriel is passionate about maintaining a school culture where children feel supported, powerful, endlessly capable, and loved. She has worked with a variety of age groups, and served children in general and special education classrooms. Ms. Gabriel is from Minnesota originally, earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Bates College in Maine, and her Master’s in General and Special Elementary Education from Touro College in New York.

Kashia Bandele

Director of School Operations
Kashia Bandele was born and raised in Lacey, WA. Her expertise lies in before- and after-school program development, and student support services through non-profit organizations. She holds a Masters of Science in Educational Leadership and policy studies from the University of Kansas and an undergraduate degree from Washington State University, where she majored in Social Sciences with an emphasis on sociology, comparative ethnic studies, and secondary communications. In her free time, she enjoys photography, music, dancing, crafting, and spending time with loved ones. Kashia values her role within the Impact community and appreciates being a part of a school that believes in the power of increasing scholar achievements and their well-being.

Ryan Thon

Assistant Principal
Ryan Thon is excited to serve as the Assistant Principal at Commencement Bay Elementary, having begun his service with Impact three years ago as a Special Education teacher. Ryan grew up in Seattle, Tacoma and Gig Harbor. Prior to joining Impact, Ryan served as the Youth Program Coordinator with the National Center for Restorative Justice, where he led youth programs in schools across the Highline, Issaquah, and Tacoma school districts. These experiences shaped his passion for building strong relationships, creating supportive school communities, and ensuring every scholar has the opportunity to thrive. Ryan attended Fairhaven College at Western Washington University, where he earned a degree in Education and American Cultural Studies, and he is excited to continue serving the scholars, families, and staff of the Commencement Bay Elementary community.
