An important pillar of Impact’s core values is #PlayBig and Impact | Salish Sea Elementary scholars have been playing big with our Imagination Playground equipment!
Imagination Playground is a breakthrough play space concept designed to encourage child-directed free play. The innovative equipment consists of large blue blocks made of waterproof, highly durable foam. There are bricks and cylinders, accented with chutes, channels, and parts that encourage motion and connectivity. These modular, rectilinear parts are easy to stack, line up, and move around.
This play system has been transformative for I|SSE scholars and we are seeing many new leaders emerge at recess! Impact’s curriculum focuses on project-based learning in which scholars can use their hands, be creative, and build and construct. The Imagination Playground blocks align closely with our model and have encouraged learning, social development, movement, and above all, fun. When I|SSE’s new playground space on the south side of the building is completed in the next few weeks, the Imagination Playground equipment will continue to be utilized on the east side of the building as an integral part of I|SSE scholars’ #PlayBig experience.
