Transition to Kindergarten at Impact Public Schools

Impact Public Schools is proud to introduce our new Transition to Kindergarten classes in 2025!

What is Transition to Kindergarten?

At Impact Public Schools, we’re excited to offer a play-based Transition to Kindergarten (TK) program designed with your child’s growth and happiness in mind.

Our TK program provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where 4-year-olds can thrive. It is much more than daycare and not just an early start to Kindergarten—our TK classrooms are purposefully structured to support the developmental needs of young learners.

Why Choose TK at Impact?

Through hands-on activities, creative play, and guided learning, children build important skills like:

  • Confidence in themselves and their abilities.
  • Early literacy and numeracy foundational skills
  • Social and emotional skills, like problem solving, sharing, cooperation, and self-regulation.
  • Backed by child development research, our TK program is the perfect bridge between preschool and kindergarten, helping your child feel ready and excited for the next steps in their educational journey.

We can’t wait to welcome your family to Impact Public Schools, where every child’s potential is nurtured with care, joy, and purpose!

What makes Impacts Transition to Kindergarten Successful:

  • Play-Based Learning: Our TK program uses the Tools of the Mind curriculum to support your child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
    • Our scholars engage in thematic units to provide them with a hands-on immersive learning experience about the world we live in.
  • Proven Success: Students who complete our TK program score higher on our kindergarten assessments compared to students who did not.
    • This is because our program focuses on building a strong literacy and math foundation!
  • Full-Day Program: A structured schedule from 8:05 AM to 2:15 PM, offering engaging activities, nap time, recess, and meals.
    • Our TK programs run the same hours as our elementary school day!
  • Dedicated Teachers: Each TK classroom has two licensed teachers supporting approximately 26 students.

Integrated Supports: TK students have access to the same support services as our K-5 students. Our individual approach to learning starts in TK.

What does the schedule look like for TK Scholars?

At Impact Public Schools, our Transition to Kindergarten (TK) schedule is carefully designed to balance play, learning, and rest—meeting the unique needs of 4-year-olds. Each day is filled with engaging, hands-on activities that spark curiosity and build critical skills, all while allowing plenty of time for play and creativity.

Here’s what your child can look forward to:

  • Play-Based Learning: Activities like Make-Believe Play and Buddy Reading encourage imagination and social connection while integrating academic concepts.
  • Focused Skill-Building: Small group sessions for math and literacy help your child develop early academic skills in a fun and interactive way.
  • Rest and Recharge: Dedicated rest time ensures your child stays refreshed and ready to learn.
  • Outdoor Fun: Daily recess gives children the chance to explore, move, and play outside.
  • Social Development: Group time and free choice centers encourage collaboration, creativity, and independence.

With a full day running from 8:05 AM to 2:15 PM, your child will experience a structured yet flexible routine that fosters growth, confidence, and a love of learning.
